WASHINGTON (AP) - Police in Washington, D.C., say homicide is suspected in the deaths of two people whose bodies were found in a burned District home.

News outlets report District police and fire responded to a house fire Saturday morning and found the bodies of 60-year-old Joseph Burgess and 50-year-old Regina Bowman. Police say autopsies were conducted Sunday, and spokesman Vito Maggiolo says the two may have suffered injuries “as a result of something other than fire.”

Authorities haven’t released the causes of death for Bowman and Burgess, but police say the two died in a manner consistent with homicide.
