MODESTO, Calif. (AP) - Authorities say a man has died after a struggle with sheriff’s deputies in central California.

The Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department says deputies responded Tuesday to reports that a possibly intoxicated man was breaking things during an altercation with his father in Modesto.

Sheriff’s Sgt. Joshua Clayton tells the Modesto Bee that deputies used stun guns and a police dog to try and restrain the man. Clayton says the man appeared to have a medical emergency and was taken to a hospital, where he died.

The man’s name wasn’t released.

The incident is under investigation.
