HARTSVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - A Tennessee teen charged in a fatal shooting says he wants to be moved to another juvenile facility because he’s being bullied.

The Tennessean reports 15-year-old Ethen Kain Vanderpool told a judge Monday that he’s suffering from verbal abuse that hasn’t yet escalated to physical fights.

Vanderpool is charged as an adult with criminal homicide in the November fatal shooting of Mt. Juliet High student, 16-year-old JayShawn Taylor. Vanderpool was homeschooled at the time.

A motion for the transfer says Vanderpool fears for his life. Attorney Tony Maynard says his client is being punished before even being tried.

Prosecutors said they need time for the center’s representatives to provide information on Vanderpool’s time in custody. The motion was continued and will resume on July 23.
