It’s playoff time in the Arena Football League, and the defending ArenaBowl champion Washington Valor are looking to repeat.

The Valor finished the regular season 7-5 and clinched the third seed in the AFL. They will play the No. 2 Philadelphia Soul in a two-game semifinal series for the right to advance to ArenaBowl XXXII.

The team with a higher aggregate score after two games will advance, a rule that was instituted last year.

The Valor will be the home team first, hosting the Soul at Capital One Arena on July 28 at 3:30 p.m. They will meet again the following Sunday, Aug. 4, at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia. The ArenaBowl will be played Aug. 11 and televised on ESPN2.

In the other semifinal series, the top-seeded Albany Empire will take on the No. 4 Baltimore Brigade.

The Valor had a much better regular season campaign in 2019 than last year, when they finished 2-10. But because every AFL team made the postseason last year, the Valor were able to redeem themselves and beat Baltimore in ArenaBowl XXXI.
