BALTIMORE (AP) - The Baltimore County State’s Attorney Office says a police officer was justified in the fatal shooting of a suspect during an exchange of gunfire at a motel earlier this month.
Baltimore County Police have said Officer McCampbell shot and killed 43-year-old Kareem Omar Morgan on July 6 when officers attempted to execute warrants at his motel room in Rosedale. Authorities say Morgan was wanted for shooting his ex-girlfriend that day.
The Baltimore Sun reports that in a letter dated July 15 and addressed to the police department, Deputy State’s Attorney Robin Coffin said a no-knock warrant was carried out because Morgan was believed to be armed. Body camera footage shows Morgan pointing a handgun at officers and firing a shot. He reportedly fired four shots before he was killed.
