FRANKLIN, N.H. (AP) - A New Hampshire man has been accused of misdemeanor assault following an hours-long standoff that forced the evacuation of neighboring homes.
WMUR-TV reports police tried to negotiate with the man at a home in Franklin after finding a woman who was bleeding. She was taken to a hospital and a police SWAT team was called in.
Police said after about seven hours, tear gas canisters were shot into the home and 38-year old Owen Parenteau surrendered peacefully.
He faces a bail hearing Monday. It wasn’t immediately known if he had a lawyer.
