OLEY, Pa. (AP) - Authorities say firefighters called to a home ablaze in eastern Pennsylvania found themselves at the scene of a murder-suicide.

Chief Ray Serafin of the Central Berks Regional Police Department says crews arriving at the Oley Township home early Tuesday found a man in a motorized wheelchair awaiting their arrival. He says the man pointed out a woman’s body nearby, and while a firefighter was tending to her, he shot himself.

Officials said 62-year-old Stefan Strunk is believed to have set the fire and killed 62-year-old Joy Strunk. Officials said he may have tried to burn the house down with her inside and killed her when she escaped.

Officials said friends and co-workers reported some domestic issues, but notes left at the scene shed no light on motive.
