BELLEVILLE, N.J. (AP) - Authorities say a driver wanted for eluding is now facing similar charges in connection with an unrelated pursuit in which he allegedly struck and injured a teenage bicyclist.

Belleville police say the chase started shortly before 8 p.m. Sunday, when officers spotted Christopher Roman and tried to stop his SUV. But they say the 27-year-old Newark man sped off and soon hit the front tire of a bike ridden by a 14-year-old girl who was trying to cross the street.

The girl was treated at the scene for minor injuries. Her name hasn’t been released.

Roman remained at large Monday. Authorities say he will face charges of aggravated assault and eluding stemming from Sunday night’s pursuit.
