OMAHA, Neb. (AP) - Prosecutors say they’ll retry a man charged with killing a 16-year-old Omaha boy.
Jurors could not agree on a verdict this week in the trial of 24-year-old Otis Walker, so a judge declared a mistrial. A new trial date hasn’t been set. Walker had been charged with first-degree murder and two weapons crimes.
The Omaha World-Herald reports that Markeise Dunn was walking his girlfriend to a bus stop on Nov. 26, 2016, when a car rolled up behind them. Prosecutors say a car passenger asked them where they were from before opening fire.
Prosecutors suspect the shooting motive was gang-related, but the judge didn’t allow any testimony on gang connections.
