BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) - Vermont police say a registered sex offender who spent 17 years in prison for child sexual misconduct has been arrested for touching another child.

Burlington police say 54-year-old Sean Guillette inappropriately touched a 10-year-old girl at a supermarket last week. The girl’s mother contacted police and later identified Guillette after searching an online sex offender registry.

Police say Guillette tried to slash his neck with a box cutter when he was arrested Friday.

It’s unknown if Guillette has a lawyer. He was being held without bail Sunday on charges of lewd and lascivious conduct with a child, and violating conditions of release by possessing child pornography.
