Man charged in connection with killing of 2 in north Omaha

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) - A 20-year-old man has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder in the slayings of two men inside a north Omaha home.

The Omaha World-Herald reports that Nyir Kuek of Omaha has also been charged with weapons counts in the case.

Police say 50-year-old Tracy Atkins and 57-year-old Michael Sykora were killed. Their bodies were found early Tuesday morning by officers called to the home near Forest Lawn Cemetery.

Police say a witness told officers that Kuek was arguing with one of the victims in the home’s basement around midnight Monday.

Kuek was arrested Tuesday night. He’s being held without bail.
