NEW YORK (AP) - Police say a member of the Bloods gang faces attempted murder charges for mistakenly shooting and wounding an 11-year-old boy on a Brooklyn street while aiming at a man.

Angel Eaddy was arrested Friday, a day after authorities say he opened fire in the Crown Heights neighborhood during an encounter with his target. The child and the 31-year-old man are recovering at Kings County Hospital. The boy was struck in the chest and needed surgery.

The 27-year-old alleged gunman is charged with two counts of attempted murder, criminal use of a firearm, reckless endangerment and assault.

Police say he started shooting near a grocery store on Schenectady Avenue.

Eaddy is awaiting arraignment later Friday.
