WILLINGBORO, N.J. (AP) - A New Jersey man accused of having killed his ex-girlfriend’s grandmother and brother - and then live-streamed his own police chase - has now been charged in a slaying in February, authorities said.
Terrance Matthews, 23, is accused of firing at two men who were sitting in a car early on Feb. 18 in Willingboro, killing Davell Williamson, 21, and wounding the other man, the Burlington County prosecutor said Sunday. He faces first-degree murder and weapons charges.
On Friday, prosecutors announced that Matthews had been charged with killing Jennifer Vassell, 68, and her grandson, 9-year-old Ishon Mathiln Jr. at their home in Willingboro. Both were stabbed multiple times, and the boy appeared to have been drowned in a bathtub, prosecutors said.
Prosecutors allege that the defendant then held his 22-year-old ex-girlfriend, who had been at work, against her will overnight after she returned home. When the two went to a convenience store the following day, she told an employee that he had killed her family, and he fled, authorities said.
Authorities said Matthews live-streamed the high-speed police chase on Facebook before he crashed and was captured Thursday. He was charged with first-degree murder, kidnapping and weapons counts. It’s unclear whether he has an attorney.
