Deputies accuse healthcare provider of stealing from client

GREENVILLE, N.C. (AP) - Sheriff’s deputies in North Carolina have accused a healthcare provider of stealing from her elderly client.

WITN reports the Pitt County Sheriff’s Office says deputies began investigating a case of financial card theft and the use of an elderly person’s vehicle, and it led to a pattern of elder exploitation and fraud against the 83-year-old victim that began last December.

Deputies filed several charges against Roxie Crawford of Winterville, who was arrested on Tuesday. The charges include exploit elder trust and financial card theft.

Crawford is jailed on a $100,000 secured bond, and it’s not known if she has an attorney.
