PHOENIX (AP) - Authorities say a 26-year-old man has been arrested after a traffic collision that killed his passenger.

Phoenix police Sgt. Tommy Thompson said Friday that Kensley Cody Dayzie was booked into Maricopa County Jail after the accident late Thursday.

He was the driver of a Chevrolet Impala that was westbound on Durango Street at a high rate of speed at about 11:10 p.m. Thursday when the accident occurred.

Witnesses told police that the car ran a red light at 35th Avenue and failed to turn at the T intersection, flipping onto the roof as it plunged into the canal below.

The passenger who died has been identified as 27-year-old Daria Quimayousie. The relationship between the two is unclear.
