Wizards forward Bobby Portis expects to meet with the Utah Jazz when free agency opens, The Athletic reported.

Portis, who the Wizards acquired at the trade deadline last season, is a restricted free agent and is reportedly seeking $16 million per year. The Jazz have a major need at power forward after trading Jae Crowder.

The Athletic reported last week that the Wizards aren’t expected to match an offer sheet to Portis if the 24-year-old receives close to what he’s asking for.

While the Jazz appear to have interest in Portis, their pursuit of Indiana Pacers forward Bojan Bogdanovic could prevent them from signing Portis. The Athletic reported the Jazz are emerging as a “serious threat” to sign Bogdanovic, a former Wizard, away from the Pacers.

If that’s the case, Utah does not have the salary cap space to sign both players.

Portis averaged 14.2 points and 8.1 rebounds per game last season, while shooting 39.3% from deep.

Free agency begins at 6 p.m. Sunday.
