BOSTON — An attempt to stage a “straight pride” parade in Boston has sparked social media outrage days before the city hosts its annual gay pride parade.

Efforts by the group calling itself Super Happy Fun America come amid LGBTQ Pride Month, with Boston’s parade scheduled for Saturday.

City officials say organizers have been in contact with the city, but haven’t yet received the necessary permits.

They’re hoping to hold a parade followed by a flag-raising ceremony in August.

The group didn’t immediately respond to an email or Facebook message seeking further information on their plans.

Boston Pride didn’t immediately respond to a phone call, email or Facebook message.

Boston Mayor Marty Walsh didn’t mention the “straight pride” parade in a statement Tuesday, but the Democrat said this week is about “Boston’s values of love and inclusion, which are unwavering.”
