HARTSVILLE, S.C. (AP) - Authorities say several people at a car dealership fired on police officers investigating an alarm and they shot back.

Darlington County Sheriff’s Lt. Robby Kilgo said no officers were wounded in the shooting just before midnight Monday at a Dodge dealership on state Highway 151 in Hartsville.

Kilgo says it doesn’t appear any of the people at the dealership were struck in the gunbattle either.

Kilgo said in a statement deputies did take one person into custody. That person’s name was not released.

Authorities say a helicopter and tracking dogs were used in an extensive search for others involved in the shooting, but no one else has been found.

The State Law Enforcement Division has been asked to investigate the gunbattle.
