DETROIT (AP) - Prosecutors say a Detroit man faces multiple charges stemming from a car chase ending with police gunfire.

They said Wednesday that 29-year-old Christopher Lee Cavin is charged with second-degree murder, assault with intent to murder and two counts each of fleeing and eluding police, drug possession and carrying a concealed weapon, plus other weapons charges.

Prosecutors say that when Detroit police tried to stop Cavin’s car Monday afternoon, he sped off, leading officers on a chase that ended when the car spun out of control. They say Cavin then began ramming police cars in an attempt to flee and drove toward one officer, leading other officers to open fire on the car, killing 41-year-old Kevin Daniel Pudick of Jackson and injuring Cavin.

Police recovered two loaded handguns from Cavin’s car.
