UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (AP) - Police have detained a suspect after a call from a Maryland elementary school saying a man entered the building, made threatening statements and acted strangely.

Jennifer Donelan of the Prince George’s County Police Department says officers responded to the call on Friday afternoon and searched Patuxent Elementary School. Donelan said no shots had been fired at the school, as was initially reported, and that six children inside the school at an after-school care program were escorted out safely.

According to Donelan, the suspect removed some of his clothes at the school, prompting a search of the area.

Donelan said no injuries were reported and that no weapon has been found.

Classes at the school are scheduled to end next Friday.
