WINTER GARDEN, Fla. (AP) - Police say a body discovered in a wooded area in central Florida is that of a 16-year-old boy believed to have been kidnapped a week ago.

The Orlando Sentinel reports that the remains of Bruce Hagans were found Friday after police received an anonymous tip. Hagans was kidnapped from Winter Garden area and apparently died of a gunshot wound.

Authorities say one suspect was arrested on evidence tampering charges and more arrests are anticipated.

An Amber Alert for the boy was issued after Winter Garden police responded to a May 31 call reporting shots fired and a vehicle fleeing the area. Police didn’t find evidence of a crime at the scene, but said they later learned that the teenager had been abducted and possibly shot.

The investigation is continuing.
