PATCHOGUE, N.Y. (AP) - Suffolk County police say a house fire on Long Island has killed two women.
The fire was reported by one of the residents who had just arrived at the North Patchogue home at about 1:30 a.m. Monday.
Police say officers managed to enter the basement and rescue a 47-year-old man who sustained non-life threatening injuries.
The bodies of the two victims were discovered after the fire was extinguished. Police identified them as 54-year-old Kimberley Bonsignore and 56-year-old Brenda Richardson.
Three officers were treated for minor injuries. The cause of the fire wasn’t immediately known.
