BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - A man has been arrested and charged in the shooting deaths of two people in Alabama’s largest city earlier this week.

News outlets reported 25-year-old Michael Damon Daniels of Center Point was arrested late Sunday in Birmingham.

Detectives obtained warrants Tuesday charging Daniels with two counts of capital murder, attempted murder, kidnapping, robbery and firing a gun into an occupied vehicle.

Forty-five-year-old Octavia Dortch was shot to death early Sunday near a hospital. About 90 minutes later, police were called to a gas station where they found 28-year-old Gregory Snodgress.

Police say there is no indication that Daniels knew either victim, nor did they know each other.

Police have not released a motive.

It was not known if Daniels has an attorney. He had been released from prison last year.
