ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - The Latest on New Mexico weather (all times local):

8:55 a.m.

Public schools were closed Wednesday in Santa Fe due to hazardous driving conditions caused by a late winter storm dropping snow on much of northern and western New Mexico.

7:45 a.m.

Forecasters say a late winter storm is expected to produce dangerous winds making travel conditions dangerous across much of New Mexico Wednesday, with snow in some areas.

A high wind warning issued by the National Weather Service says the strongest winds are forecast along and east of the central mountain chain, with gusts over 75 mph (121 kph) possible.

Forecasters say there could be power outages, downed trees and toppled high-profile vehicles.

A winter storm warning says heavy, blowing snow is expected in parts of northern and western New Mexico.
