OGALLALA, Neb. (AP) - Officials say westbound Interstate 80 will be closed later this morning because of predicted blizzard conditions.

The Nebraska Transportation Department said in a news release that the interstate will be closed west of Ogallala at 11 a.m. Central time. The department says travel on secondary roads isn’t advised.

Snow and winds gusting as high as 65 mph (104.6 kph) are expected in the area Wednesday.

Parts of Interstates 80 and 25 are closed in Wyoming because of heavy snow and whiteout conditions.
