CROSSVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Authorities say a man has been accused of killing two people and injuring two others after they all were found on the same day in a Tennessee city.
News outlets cite a Tennessee Bureau of Investigation statement as saying 46-year-old John Patrick Fields is charged with two counts of first-degree murder and two counts of attempted first-degree murder.
Investigators say the body of 47-year-old Lowell Thomas “Chip” Simmons was found first on Tuesday in Crossville. Cumberland County Sheriff’s deputies initially deemed it a fatal shooting, but the bureau says investigators found that may not be how he died.
Hours later, three people were found shot and 23-year-old Makayla Manning died at the scene. A man and a woman were hospitalized.
It’s unclear if Fields has a lawyer who could comment.
