HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - Hartford police are investigating an early morning homicide in the city.

Police say the 58-year-old male victim was shot at about 1 a.m. Friday on Mather Street. He was found in a stairwell of a residential building with gunshot wounds to the neck and hip.

He was taken to St. Francis Hospital where he died later in the morning.



His name was not released pending notification of family.

There was no word on arrests but a witness reported to police that three people were spotted running from the scene.

Police are urging anyone with information about the shooting to contact them.
