DERRY, N.H. (AP) - A New Hampshire firefighter says a motorist is lucky to be alive after a large tree fell on the car he was driving in the town of Derry.

WMUR-TV reports the driver, whose name was not released, was traveling on Island Pond Road Saturday morning when the tree fell.

Battalion Fire Chief Bill Gillis says the man was taken to Parkland Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

The front passenger side of the car suffered the most damage, but there was no passenger in the vehicle.

Gillis says wind caused the weak tree to fall.
