ROSEVILLE, Mich. (AP) - The number of dogs taken from a suburban Detroit cemetery has increased after more were found in an adjacent house.

Authorities in Roseville seized 33 dogs Saturday from a garage at the cemetery. Another 10 dogs were taken from the house next to the garage.

A 51-year-old woman residing in the home told officers she was operating a rescue nearby before recently moving the dogs to the Roseville location. She said the garage was serving as temporary quarters for the dogs.

Police say the dogs were held in various cages in the garage and needed immediate attention due to their conditions.

Roseville Deputy Police Chief Donald Glandon said in a statement that an unlicensed kennel citation is expected to be issued.
