DETROIT (AP) - A six-story Detroit building has been renovated to provide affordable apartments for military veterans, people going through homelessness and others suffering from mental illness.

The Saint Rita Apartments are a few miles north of downtown. To be eligible, individuals must earn between zero and 30 percent of the area median income.

Central City Integrated Health will provide on-site supportive services to help ensure each resident receives the critical support and assistance needed to not only maintain their housing status, but also allow them to positively contribute to the community. Central City Integrated Health broke ground on the $7.2 million development in 2017.

The building features 26 one-bedroom apartments, a community room, computer lab and library.
