NEW ORLEANS (AP) - A father and son have been sentenced to life in prison for their roles in the 2017 death of an armored truck driver in New Orleans.
WVUE-TV reports that Wednesday’s sentence of Armstead and Jerome Kieffer follows their October convictions in federal court. The charges stemmed from a May 2017 bank robbery attempt and the death of 33-year-old James McBride, a Loomis armored truck driver.
Armstead Kieffer, who was 54 at the time of his trial, and his 33-year-old son Jerome were convicted of setting off the chain of events that led to McBride’s death. Prosecutors said McBride was struck by a co-worker’s bullet during the robbery.
