MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - Police in Tennessee say an off-duty Memphis police officer has died in a two-car wreck.
Memphis police Director Michael Rallings tells news outlets the officer was killed early Thursday in the wreck near the Raleigh neighborhood. The cause of the wreck is unclear.
Rallings says the driver of the second vehicle was taken to a hospital in non-critical condition. He says the officer was lieutenant who had worked in law enforcement for more than 25 years. Authorities didn’t immediately release the identities of those involved.
An investigation is ongoing.
