LEXINGTON, S.C. (AP) - Police in South Carolina say a former church pastor has been arrested on child sex charges.

South Congaree Police Chief Josh Shumpert told news outlets Tuesday that 56-year-old William Oswald of Prosperity has been arrested and charged with six counts of criminal sexual conduct with a minor.

Shumpert said Oswald was a former part-time pastor in the area. Police say the charges stem from the time when Oswald lived in South Congaree, between 1996 and 2001.

Lexington County jail records say the victims include one child under the age of 11 and another between the ages of 11 and 14.

It was not known if Oswald has an attorney yet.
