PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Authorities say a Philadelphia police officer shot at an armed street robbery suspect and fought with the man before he disarmed him and took him into custody.
The robbery occurred around 3 a.m. Thursday, when three men allegedly confronted a couple at gunpoint.
Shortly after the victims reported the robbery, authorities say one of the suspects was found hiding in an abandoned home. The man allegedly pointed a loaded gun at an officer, who fired two shots but didn’t hit the suspect.
A fight ensued and the officer eventually disarmed the man, though the officer suffered knee and hand injuries.
A second suspect was captured on a nearby street, but the third remains at large.
Authorities say the couple that was robbed was not injured.
