FONTANA, Calif. (AP) - A Southern California couple is under arrest following the death of their 3-year-old daughter.
Police in Fontana say the little girl was hospitalized Feb. 27 after paramedics responded to reports that she wasn’t breathing. The child died on Sunday.
The San Bernardino Sun reports Monday that the girl’s mother, 37-year-old Miriam Sandoval Montano, could face a murder charge.
The father, 34-year-old Richard Rojo, was arrested on suspicion of cruelty to a child.
It wasn’t immediately known if they have attorneys.
The newspaper says Montano had been on felony probation for abusing the same child in 2015.
The couple’s remaining two children - including the 3-year-old’s twin sister - are in the care of child welfare authorities.
