GRETNA, La. (AP) - The Jefferson Parish Council has filled a seat vacated when Chris Roberts resigned amid a corruption probe.
News outlets report the council Tuesday appointed Keith Conley to fill the parishwide Division A seat until a successor is sworn into office next year. Conley was the only nominee for the interim post after two others dropped out.
Voters will choose a new council person in October. Conley will not run for the seat.
Conley formerly served as Kenner’s city attorney and as a Kenner City councilman. He was also the number two administrator for Jefferson Parish government.
