BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) - An upstate New York doctor has been sentenced to probation after using the identities of two deceased patients to obtain controlled substances.
WKBW-TV reports that prosecutors from the U.S. Attorney’s Office say 54-year-old Paul Biddle was convicted of identity theft and possession of the opioid hydromorphone HCL.
He will serve two years of probation.
Prosecutors say the Orchard Park anesthesiologist and pain management doctor filled more than 30 prescriptions for personal use.
The scripts were filled by a pharmacy in Tampa, Florida and then shipped directly to Biddle’s home or office.
Biddle pleaded guilty to the charges in January.
