CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - West Virginia has lowered its flags to half-staff for Peace Officers Memorial Day.

Gov. Jim Justice says U.S. flags and state flags on state-owned buildings will be lowered from day to dusk Wednesday.

The Republican governor says his order is in accordance with a presidential proclamation for the day.

Justice says he encourages citizens to honor federal, state and local officers killed or disabled in the line of duty.
