ST. ALBANS, W.Va. (AP) - A man has been charged after he led police in West Virginia on a chase that ended with him crashing his car into a criminal defense lawyer’s sign.

WCHS-TV reports say 34-year-old Ernest Alexander has been charged with fleeing from and officer and receiving or transferring stolen property.

Police say the car chase started in South Charleston, with Alexander exceeding 100 mph and nearly hitting two adults and a small child as he blew through several stop signs.

Authorities say the arrested Alexander in St. Albans during a short foot chase after he drove up on a lawn and plowed over a small sign for a criminal defense lawyer’s office.

It’s unclear if Alexander has an attorney.
