NEW YORK (AP) - Police say a 3-year-old boy crossing a street in Brooklyn has been fatally struck by a delivery van.

It happened in the Bath Beach neighborhood just before 1 p.m. Thursday.

Police say little Emur Shavkator, of Brooklyn, was in the marked crosswalk when he was struck by the van making a right turn.

The driver, identified as 61-year-old Johnny Gonzalez, remained at the scene. The Brooklyn man was later arrested on charges of failure to yield to a pedestrian and failure to exercise due care. It wasn’t clear if he had a lawyer who could comment.
