It’s almost as if it wouldn’t have mattered if the New York Mets’ other eight starting players decided not to show up to Citi Field on Thursday — Noah Syndergaard took care of everything himself.

In a 1-0 New York win over the Cincinnati Reds, Syndergaard struck out 10 batters in a complete game, four-hit shutout and provided the afternoon’s only run with a solo home run.

Syndergaard, nicknamed Thor for his flowing blonde hair, belted this home run in the third inning and kept the Reds at bay the rest of the game — no thanks to his teammates, of course.

Syndergaard is the first Mets pitcher to ever toss a complete game and homer for his team’s only run, the New York Post reported.

In fact, the last MLB pitcher to accomplish the feat was Bob Welch in 1983, per Elias Sports Bureau. That’s a 36-year dry spell now broken.
