ABBEVILLE, Ala. (AP) - The police chief for an Alabama city has been suspended for 10 days without pay.

The Dothan Eagle reports Abbeville’s City Council suspended Chief Noel Vanlandingham on Monday for insubordination.

Vanlandingham’s attorneys, Steve Etheredge and Dustin Fowler, are awaiting a letter from City Attorney Spence Danzey for further details. Once that’s received, Fowler says they will review their options.

Abbeville council members hired Vanlandingham in 2015.

Prior to that, Vanlandingham worked as a deputy with the Henry County Sheriff’s Office and the Abbeville Police Department.
