LOS ANGELES (AP) - Los Angeles police have arrested a 37-year-old man for allegedly running a dating scam that fleeced dozens of women he met online.
A police statement says detectives on Thursday arrested Wilson Edward Jackson, who has been the subject of numerous identity theft, forgery and grand theft reports received by the LAPD and other police agencies in and out of state for several years.
Police say that when Jackson met the women he would ask for loans, claiming bank problems or that his car was impounded with his wallet inside, and then repay them with checks written on closed bank accounts.

Police say women who visited his apartment had credit card information and checks stolen.
Online records show Jackson in jail Friday. It’s not known if he has a lawyer.
