VANCOUVER, Wash. (AP) - Authorities are investigating after an inmate died at the Clark County Jail in Vancouver.

The Columbian reports deputies and medical staff at the jail were checking on inmates at 11:02 a.m. Sunday when they discovered a male inmate unresponsive in the booking detox area.

The Clark County Sheriff’s Office says personnel began live-saving measures and requested medical help.



The sheriff’s office says Vancouver Fire Department medics pronounced the unidentified 38-year-old man dead at 11:09 a.m.

The sheriff’s office said no additional information would be released until the man’s family was notified.

The Clark County Major Crimes Unit is investigating.
