The Maryland Terrapins got a new commit for the Class of 2019, signing center Chol Marial, a center originally from South Sudan.

Depending on the outlet reporting it, Marial’s height is listed at 7-foot-1 or 7-foot-2.

Marial played at a few prep schools in the U.S., most recently at Compass Prep in Arizona. The 247 Sports composite ranking rates him a three-star prospect and the 92nd overall prospect in the Class of 2019.

Marial joins twins Makhi and Makhel Mitchell, Donta Scott and Hakim Hart in the Terrapins’ class, which Rivals now ranks 16th in the nation.

Marial will help replace the void left by center/forward Bruno Fernando, who recently announced he will keep his name in the NBA draft.

South Sudan gained independence from Sudan in 2011, making it the newest country on the globe.
