SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (AP) - Scottsdale police say a suspected drunken driver in a collision that killed a man is in jail.

Police spokesman Ben Hoster says that 36-year-old Alexis Edwin Garcia-Ochoa was booked Monday on suspicion of second-degree murder upon his release from a hospital. He is being held on $150,000 bond.

Authorities say he was driving at high speed the morning of April 28 and ran a red light at an intersection. He hit a car driven by 46-year-old Ryan Ralph Thomas.

Emergency responders transported Thomas to the hospital but he was pronounced dead.

Garcia-Ochoa was initially hospitalized in serious condition.

Investigators say alcohol impairment was a factor in the collision.

It was not immediately known if Garcia-Ochoa had an attorney.
