QUINCY, Mass. (AP) - A woman is in critical condition after being rescued from waters off the coast of Massachusetts.
Massachusetts State Police say troopers were called to Quincy around 12:40 p.m. Wednesday on reports of a woman who was being swept under the current off the shore of Wollaston Beach.
Police say witnesses saw the woman remove all her clothing and enter the water from the beach. A state trooper commandeered a kayak and kept her afloat until a rescue boat arrived and took her to shore.
The woman was taken to Boston Medical Center in critical condition. Her identity has not been released. Police say all rescuers are safe and uninjured. One Quincy police officer who entered the water in a wet suit was taken to a nearby hospital for precautionary reasons.
