PORTLAND, Maine (AP) - A former Cumberland County corrections officer accused of causing a fatal car crash after working a string of long days and overtime shifts has been indicted for manslaughter.
Sixty-two-year-old Kenneth Morang told police he fell asleep before the crash in July as a family was returning from seeing “The Lion King” movie. The Portland Press Herald reports that a 9-year-old girl, Raelynn Bell, of Cumberland, died two days later.
Morang resigned this month because of the injuries he suffered in the crash prevented him from returning to work. A phone number for Morang couldn’t be located, and it was unclear if he had a lawyer.

Walter McKee, who represents the family, called the crash an “unspeakable tragedy.” He said he’s researching whether the county bears any responsibility.
