COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - Two South Carolina inmates were given additional life sentences for the slayings of four fellow inmates in 2017.
The State newspaper reported that Circuit Judge De’Andrea Benjamin handed down four life sentences to 38-year-old Denver Simmons and 28-year-old Jacob Philip.
Each were already serving life sentences.
According to warrants in the case, Simmons and Philip confessed to killing inmates Jimmy Ham, Jason Kelley, John King and William Scruggs.
Simmons pleaded guilty to four killings. Philip also pleaded guilty but said he was mentally ill.
