CASTLE ROCK, Colo. (AP) - The mother of a student killed in a shooting at a suburban Denver school says her “life is over” following the death of her son.
Maria Castillo testified Wednesday on the final day of a court hearing on whether one of the students charged in the attack will be tried as an adult or a juvenile.
KCNC-TV reported that she said 18-year-old Kendrick Castillo was the best son she could have asked for. She said he was her life and now she doesn’t have a life.
She sobbed as she recalled hugging her son and telling him she loved like she always did on the morning of May 7 just before the shooting.
Almost everyone cried during her testimony, including 16-year-old defendant Alec McKinney.
A decision is expected next week.
